Our Principles Of Care

  • We are committed to ensuring our team of careers are fully trained to ensure the continuity and delivery of second to none care.
  • We are committed to ensuring each person is responded to as an individual in their own right and not as a group and that his/her own unique personality, strengths, needs and perspectives are top priority.
  • We ensure that each individual’s rights are respected and not infringed and that our service users utilise their rights fully.
  • We ensure that service user’s choices are respected at all times and that they are given encouragement and support with their choices.
  • We ensure that services users privacy and dignity is respected at all times and that everyone is treated in a manner which safeguard privacy and dignity and which does not cause or have the potential to cause embarrassment, humiliation or cause personal/emotional discomfort.
  • We ensure that our service users are given access to sufficient and correct information to support them making choices.
  • We ensure that service users continue to maintain their independence, empowering them as individuals to be involved in the day to day activity within the home. Encouraging service users to learn new skills to increase independence, to only assist with the things the individuals find difficult to lesson the likelihood of an individual becoming unnecessarily dependant.
  • We ensure that consideration is shown to all individuals and to demonstrate through actions and attitudes that people are worthy of respect. That opinions, values and achievements are valued.
  • We ensure that the primary care values are met at all times: privacy, dignity, individuality, independence, confidentiality, right, empowerment, choice and fulfilment of client group.

Ivanhoe Care House

Ivanhoe Residential Care Home came under the ownership of Denestar Ltd in May 2008. Having a very good reputation for excellent care in  the area for many years, our aim was to continue and build upon this reputation. To this end, we brought in our very experienced manager from another home within  the Denestar group who had twenty years experience as a care home manager. Having already made a huge impact, Marilyn Higgins was very productive in her plans for the future of Ivanhoe and the enhancement of the quality of lives for our residents, paving the way for Nita Banks who took over as Registered Manager in 2013.

Ivanhoe is a three story victorian building from the early nineteen hundreds and has been modified in recent years to accommodate 26 elderly residents including those suffering with dementia. The home has three lounges and one extended dining room; one of the lounges and the dining room have conservatory seating areas.  There is a passenger lift to the first and second floors and the home  is equipped with three main bathrooms, 8 toilets while also having 11 ensuite bedrooms.

Ivanhoe is perfectly situated between two main communities; the town of Hessle, only 1 mile to the west, and Gipsyville 1 mile to the east, with the city of Hull a short bus ride away. Having many amenities and local attractions life around Ivanhoe is always a hive of activity, with lots of comings and goings.

We offer an excellent value for money meal delivery service to local elderly people, who are still very independent but whom may require a little assistance with their daily meals; or, in most cases have heard about our delicious meals and feel that they might just as well dial up their lunch instead of going to the trouble of making it themselves. This service consists of a freshly made hot meal and hot dessert daily, served direct from  a steel platter onto the clients own crockery. In  addition we include a complimentary sandwich and bun or piece of fruit for tea time. This service has proven to be very popluar in the lcoal area and is growing month on month. For more information see our sample menus link below or call the home on 01482 566000.

As with all of the homes within the group, our staff complete a comprehensive training programme throughout the year in order to ensure that the diverse and individual needs of each of our clients are met and that our staff group have the appropriate skill and knowledge to meet the exact requirements of our client group - see our training on the 'about us' section of the home page.

Ivanhoe has been rated 'GOOD' by the CQC in February 2016
